Biology
Biology tells the story of life itself.
Genetics reveals our relationship with all other life.
Genetics have opened up a whole new way to understand life in the past 30 years. If you missed what Genetics has told us about ourselves so far, please go to the Genetics subsection to see some of the major highlights.
Ecology is a study of how life is interwoven in the garden, and what our place might be in it.
We would do well to remember that we are denizens of this garden as well as defacto stewards (by our repquirements for food and our potential for damage). A good example of ecology understood may be that of the Iroquiois in Canada who understood ecology enough to grow the 'three sisters' together. A mix of Corn, beans and squash. The corn provided a tall stalk for the beans to grow on. The squash shaded the ground with broad leaves and kept out weeds.
Botany yeilds old organisms that show provide records of recent history.
Tree rings.
Zoology is continuing its advances in showing us how we fit into the animal kingdom.
Studies on animal conciousness and emotion are revealing that we are not so much different from rest of the animal kingdom.
